His father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi, is a farmer, and his mother is Aarti Suryavanshi. He had an interest in cricket from childhood; his father began training him when he was just four years old. A few years later, his father enrolled him in an academy in Samastipur, where he was coached by Brijesh.
Due to a lack of adequate facilities in Samastipur, his father used to take him to Patna for practice, and he soon began training under the guidance of former Ranji player Manish Ojha. At the age of just 12, Vaibhav Suryavanshi played for the Bihar Under-19 team in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. He delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 393 runs across five matches in the tournament. Subsequently, he impressed everyone with his batting in the Under-19 Challengers Trophy as well.
