Ruturaj Gaikwad is an Indian international cricketer who is a right-hand batsman. He made his domestic cricket debut in 2016 for Maharashtra Cricket Team. He captains Maharashtra cricket team in T20, List A formats and captains Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
Ruturaj Gaikwad made his international debut in 2021 for Indian cricket team against Sri Lanka. He became the highest run-scorer in the 2021 IPL season. And he has also captained the Indian team that won the gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games. He is the only Indian player to score a century against Australia in international T20 cricket.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Domestic Career
On 6 October 2016, Ruturaj Gaikwad made his first-class debut for Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy. He had to miss the Ranji season due to an injury during a match. He then made his List A debut for Maharashtra in the 2016–17 Vijay Trophy on 25 February 2017. In this tournament, he scored 444 runs in 6 matches at an average of 63.42 and became the third-highest scorer in the 2016-2017 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In October 2017, Ruturaj Gaikwad was selected in the India B squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy and was named in India’s squad for the 2018 ICC Emerging Asia Cup. In 2021, he was made the captain of the Maharashtra T20 team in the Mushtaq Ali Trophy, in which he scored 150 runs in 5 matches. He scored 259 runs at a strike rate of 71 which included three half-centuries. He scored 4 centuries in the 2021-2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy and scored over 600 runs in the next season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In November 2022–23 Vijay Hazare Trophy, during the second final match between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, he became the first batsman to hit 7 sixes and with an innings of 108 runs in the final match, he set the record for most centuries (12) in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Ruturaj Gaikwad IPL Career
In December 2018, Ruturaj Gaikwad was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the 2019 Indian Premier League auction at a base price of Rs 20 lakh. He became a part of the 2019 Indian Premier League. On 2 October 2021, he scored his first century of the 2021 tournament with 101 runs against Rajasthan Royals.
On 15 October, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 32 runs in 27 balls in the final match of Chennai Super Kings and played an important role in the team’s defeat to Kolkata Riders by 27 runs. In the 2021 tournament, he won the Orange Cap by scoring the most runs 635 and also received the Emerging Player of the Year award.
After consistently performing well, Chennai Super Kings bought him again for 6 crores in the 2022 IPL auction. On 21 October 2024, he was appointed captain of the team by Chennai Super Kings after Mahendra Singh Dhoni resigned from the captaincy. On 8 April 2024, he became the first captain of the Chennai Super Kings to score a half-century in the last 5 years in the IPL against Kolkata Knight Riders.

On 28 July 2021, Ruturaj Gaikwad made his international T20 debut for India against Sri Lanka. In December 2021, he was selected for India’s ODI squad for the series against South Africa. On 6 October 22, he made his ODI debut against South Africa.
In July 2023, Ruturaj Gaikwad was selected as the vice-captain of the Indian team for the series against Ireland where he finished the innings scoring 77 runs in 2 matches. On 22 September 2023, he scored his first half-century with 77 runs in the first match of the series. In November 2023, he was selected as the vice-captain for the three matches of the T20 series against Australia where he scored 58 runs in the second match and scored his first international century by scoring 123 runs in the third match.
