Vishal Chaturvedi was born in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, and grew up in Lucknow. He hails from a family with a medical background; his parents, siblings, and other family members were all associated with the medical profession. However, during his teenage years, Vishal developed an interest in music, poetry, writing, and the art of storytelling. During his college days, he participated in cultural activities and also underwent vocal training at the Bhatkhande Music School.

Despite his growing interest in creative fields, Vishal pursued medical studies and completed his MBBS from Gorakhpur in 2006. After completing his education, he worked as a doctor and was posted in Haldwani. It was during this time that he visited Kainchi Dham and learned about Neem Karoli Baba. This experience later became a significant source of inspiration for his filmmaking journey. After spending several years in the medical field, Vishal eventually decided to leave the medical profession and pursue his passion for writing and filmmaking.

Vishal initially worked as a doctor but decided to leave medical practice in 2011 to pursue writing and filmmaking. He worked with filmmaker Anubhav Sinha for several years and was associated with projects such as ‘Hurdang’ and ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’. He also worked on television projects and wrote for the series ‘Fauji 2’.

Before making his feature film debut, Vishal worked on short films, videos, and other creative projects.

Vishal Chaturvedi made his feature directorial debut with ‘Hanuman Ansh‘ in 2026. He also wrote and produced the film. The movie is inspired by the life and spiritual journey of Neem Karoli Baba and stars Shobhinaw Satyaa and Chandan Anand in important roles. It was released in theatres on 7 August 2026.

Although the film had a slow start, it gained popularity through positive word-of-mouth. Vishal noted that while the promotional budget was limited, the audience and social media helped spread the word.

Vishal also mentioned that he did not take a directing fee for the film. The makers maintained a strictly vegetarian set, and he himself followed a fruit-based diet for several months while working on the project.

Following ‘Hanuman Ansh’, Vishal announced ‘Rambola’, a film based on the life of Goswami Tulsidas. He is writing and directing the project, which is being co-produced by Mahaveer Jain Films, Vishal Chaturvedi, and other producers.
