Vicky Kaushal has worked as a director before acting, he works as assistant director to Anurag Kashyap in Gangs of Wasseypur in 2010 and Gangs of Wasseypur 2 in 2012. After this, he did small roles in films like Luv Shuv They Chicken Khurana and Bombay Velvet in 2012 and he appeared the Short film Greek Out. He also worked in Theatre Groups of Manav Kaul and Naseeruddin Shah.
Vicky Kaushal made his Bollywood debut in 2015 with the film Masaan directed by Neeraj Dhaywan in which he starred alongside Richa Chadha, Sanjay Mishra, and Pankaj Tripathi. He also received several awards for Best Debut Actor for this film. In 2016, he did the film Jubaan in which his co-star was Sara Jain Dias.
After this, Vicky Kaushal appeared in Raman Raghav 2.0 opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui in which he played the role of a cop. He gave a wonderful performance in the film Uri: The Surgical Strike and he also received the Indian Award for his acting.
