Tilottama Sen was born on April 25, 2008, in Bengaluru, Karnataka. As of 2026, she is 18 years old. Her family is originally from Kolkata but has since settled in Bengaluru. She completed her schooling at Bluebell Public School, Bengaluru. She began shooting in 2020 after her father introduced her to the sport.

Before taking up shooting, Tilottama was interested in volleyball and karate. Later, inspired by Indian Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra, she began to pursue shooting seriously. She made rapid progress early on and soon started competing at both national and international levels.

In 2022, Tilottama Sen won a gold medal in the 10m air rifle team event and a bronze medal in the individual event at the Junior World Championships. Tilottama Sen comes from a highly supportive family in Bengaluru; her parents are Sujit Sen and Nandita. Her father played a pivotal role in introducing her to shooting and supported her during the early stages of her career.

When Tilottama began taking the sport seriously, her father utilized his provident fund and retirement savings to purchase the necessary equipment for her training. Later, she also received support from the Reliance Foundation and the TOPS program.

Tilottama Sen began shooting during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown after her father introduced her to the sport at a shooting range in Bengaluru. She gradually became serious about shooting and began competing at a high level.

She achieved her first major international success at the 2022 ISSF World Championship in Cairo, winning a gold medal in the junior women’s 10m air rifle team event and a bronze medal in the individual event.

In 2023, she won a bronze medal in the 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo. Later that same year, she won a silver medal at the Asian Shooting Championships in Changwon and secured an Olympic quota for India.

Tilottama Sen finished fifth in the final selection trials for the Paris 2024 Olympics and missed out on a spot in the Indian team. She subsequently shifted her focus to the 50m rifle 3-position event and won the senior national title in 2025.

In 2026, Tilottama participated in the World Cup in China, where she achieved her personal best score of 586 points in the 50m rifle 3-position event. This was only her second international competition in this event. She also scored 630.3 points in the 10m air rifle event.
