Showik Chakraborty Controversy
Showik Chakraborty came into the spotlight during the investigation into the 2020 death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. On July 28, 2020, Sushant’s father, Krishna Kumar Singh, lodged an FIR at a police station in Bihar, naming Showik, his father Indrajit, and his sister Rhea. Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned him, and his name also surfaced during the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) investigation. Following prolonged questioning, the NCB arrested Showik on September 4, 2020, in connection with the drug case linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
On June 23, 2022, the NCB filed a charge sheet against Showik Chakraborty, his sister Rhea Chakraborty and others in the drugs case related to Sushant Singh Rajput. In this, Rhea and Showik were accused of consuming, purchasing drugs and paying for drugs for Sushant. A demand was made to the court to prosecute them on the basis of these allegations.
