Nitish Kumar is an Indian politician who serves as the Chief Minister of Bihar. He has been in office since 2005. He is the main leader of the Janata Dal political party. He became the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 8th time in 2022 and is the longest-serving Chief Minister of Bihar.

He contributed significantly to the development of Bihar in his political life. In the early years, he did many things for the development of Bihar like opening more and more schools and appointing more teachers, working on primary health centers, appointing doctors, developing infrastructure, reducing female illiteracy by half.

Nitish Kumar was born on 1 March 1951 in Bakhtiyar, Bihar. He is a prominent leader of the Janata Dal political party. He received his early education from Shree Ganesh High School Bakhtiyar, Patna. After this, he studied from Patna Science College after matriculation. He was a sharp and intelligent student. He received his graduation degree in Electrical Engineering from Bihar College of Engineering.

Nitish Kumar’s family was already active in politics, his father was in politics as a leader of the Congress party but due to his father not getting a ticket from the Congress party, he joined the Janata Party. With his family already being in politics, Nitish Kumar also entered politics and played an important role in the development of Bihar.

Nitish Kumar is one of the famous politicians. His father’s name was Kaviraj Ram Lakhan who was an Ayurvedic doctor and mother Parmeshwari Devi who was a housewife. He has a brother Satish Kumar and three sisters, including an elder sister Usha Devi and Indu Devi and Prabha Devi are younger sisters.

Nitish Kumar married Manju Kumari Sinha on 22 February 1973. Manju Rani was a teacher. They have a son Nishant Kumar. Nitish’s wife Manju Kumari died on 14 February 2007 in New Delhi due to pneumonia.
