Chum Darang started her career as a model. She won the title of Miss AAPSU in 2010. She was a finalist of Miss North East Diva in 2014. She participated in the Miss Himalaya contest in 2015 and was the second runner up. She participated in the Miss Earth India 2016 contest in 2016 and was the winner of Miss Earth India Water 2016, which brought her recognition.
After this, she participated in the Miss Asia World Beauty Contest, she competed with contestants from 24 countries in which she stood 5th. In 2017, she won Miss Tiara Indian International 2017 and also won two subtitles ‘Miss Sports Gear and Miss Best National Custom’.
