Tania Sachdev is an Indian chess player. She also works as a chess presenter and commentator. She was the Indian Women’s Champion in 2007 and 2008. She holds the titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM). In 2007, she achieved the title of ‘Asian Women’s Chess Champion’.

In 2019, she became a three-time Commonwealth Women’s Chess Champion. She was part of the Indian team that won the women’s event at the 45th Chess Olympiad in 2024.

She grew up in Delhi. Her father Pammi Sachdev is a businessman and her mother Anju Sachdev is a homemaker. She has a sister named Amrita Sachdev and her brother is a professional golf player. Tania Sachdev Career

Tania Sachdev won the Women’s Grandmaster title and became the eighth Indian player to do so. In 2006 and 2007, she was the winner of the Indian National Women’s Premier Chess Championship. Since 2009 and 2011, she has been participating in the Women’s World Team Chess Championship and she has been part of the Women’s Asian Chess Championship since 2003.

She has been competing in the Asian Games since 2006 and the Asian Indoor Games since 2009. She was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2009. She won the individual bronze medal for board 3 at the Women’s Chess Palampiyad in 2012, four team silver medals (2008, 20009, 2012, 2014).

Tania Sachdev won the silver medal in 2021 and the federation along with her team became the winner of the Women’s World Senior Team Chess Championship. This championship was held in Acqui Terme, Italy. In 2024, she was part of the Indian team that won the gold medal for the first time in the women’s competition at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary.
